This is a Hagi-yaki (Hagi ware) flower vase handcrafted by Ryūji Matsuno, an accomplished ceramic artist known for exhibiting at the prestigious Nitten Exhibition. Produced in a traditional wood-fired climbing kiln (hon-gama), this piece showcases the soft, natural glaze tones and textures distinctive to Hagi ware. Over time, the surface of Hagi pottery subtly transforms in color and character—a phenomenon known as the "Hagi Seven Transformations.
The vase is signed by the artist (zainmei), and comes complete with its original signed wooden box (tomobako) and cloth (tomonuno). A refined example of Japanese craftsmanship, suitable for tea ceremony, ikebana flower arrangement, or as a collector’s item.
