“Matcha is not an inaccessible luxury; it is a daily grounding ritual.”

From Volcanic Fields to the Heart of LA

The Bridge Between Tradition and Creativity
Luna Matcha wasn't just born in a boardroom; it was born from a decade of conversations at Lune Noir, our Japanese lifestyle boutique on Sawtelle Boulevard. In the heart of West LA’s "Little Osaka," we’ve spent years sharing Japanese craftsmanship with our neighbors.

We listened. We saw your growing love for matcha—the ritual, the vibrant energy, and the connection to nature. But we also saw a gap: it was far too difficult to find farm-fresh, high-grade organic matcha that didn't feel like a dusty relic of the past or a mass-produced commodity.

Luna Matcha was created to bridge that gap.

The Founder’s Vision

“Matcha is not an inaccessible luxury; it is a daily grounding ritual.”Hiroko, Founder

Growing up immersed in Japanese culture, Hiroko saw tea as more than a drink—it was a moment of clarity. She envisioned a brand that stripped away the intimidation of the tea ceremony, making authentic, organic matcha a seamless part of the modern creative lifestyle. Whether it’s your mindful morning or a quick whisk before a deadline, Luna Matcha is your invitation to slow down.

Why Kagoshima?

The "Napa Valley" of Japanese Tea
While Kyoto holds the history, Kagoshima holds the future. If Kyoto is the Bordeaux of tea, Kagoshima is its Napa Valley. Nestled in southern Japan, this region is defined by its active volcanoes. This raw, natural power creates a unique "terroir"—nutrient-dense volcanic soil and pristine mountain springs that produce a matcha with a striking emerald hue and a silky-smooth umami profile.

We chose Kagoshima because its innovative farmers are leading the movement in premium organic cultivation, ensuring that your daily cup is as clean as it is delicious.

140 Years of Heritage, Curated in LA

To bring this vision to life, we partnered with Hiroyuki Mori, one of Japan’s most elite Tea Masters (one of only 23 to hold the highest rank).

By marrying Mr. Mori’s 140-year family legacy with Kagoshima’s bold volcanic profile, we’ve crafted a signature blend that honors the ancient craft while vibrating with the energy of Los Angeles.

Community-First, Always

rom Sawtelle to Your Doorstep
We are proud to be a local Los Angeles brand. Being based in Sawtelle’s Little Osaka means we are part of a living, breathing cultural exchange.

We import our matcha directly from the farms in Kagoshima to our LA studio, cutting out the middlemen to ensure the freshest harvest reaches you with domestic speed. Whether you visit us on Sawtelle or find us online, you aren't just buying tea—you’re joining our local tea community.

From the volcanic fields of Japan to the creative streets of LA. Welcome to the ritual.
